Andrew Goodwin identified 5 main aspects of music video that the audience should be looking out for. These 5 main aspects were Thought beats - seeing the sound, Narrative and Performance, The Star Image, Relation of visuals to Song and Technical Aspects of Music Video.
To start with i will talk about Thought Beats. The first thing to do when watching a music video is to look at the music itself. You must understand the structure of the song. Next the audience will have to look at the voice of the song. The artists voice is what is extremely unique. As you can see in our video we all sound different when we rap. Tinie Turban sounds more aggressive, Tignatius sounds in the middle of calm and aggressive and SK sounds calm.
The next main aspect i am going to talk about is the narrative and performance. Andrew Goodwin explains that music videos should ignore common narrative. This is important of the role of advertising. In our music video the performance and narrative used by all of us are completely different. In Tinie Turban's scene he is clearly shown as more of a boss, Tignatius is shown more as a dancer and SK is shown as a gangsta type of guy the way he is dressed.
The next key aspect is Star Image. The star image is another one of the most vital aspects of a music video. In our music video the star image is different in each of our parts of the music video as explained above.
The next aspect of a music video is Relation of visuals to a song. Music video's can use a wide variety of things like images or effects to show the meaning of the lyrics to the audience. For example on SK's rap he has gunshots appearing as he say "buy me an AK" which shown the audience exactly what he was talking about when rapping.
Finally the last aspect is the Technical Aspects about a video. The technical aspects are what hold the music video together through the use of camera work, mise en scene, editing, sound, special effects etc.
Editing and speed etc are forms of the use of camera. Lighting used when producing a music video are what emphasise the main moments of a song for dramatical effect.
