Editing Techniques

It is extremely important to make sure that you get the right camera shots, mise en scene and sounds but when developing a music video/film, powerful editing techniques are just as crucial. An example of 3 different editing software's our group are using is shown below
Sony Vegas Pro 10 is a professional HD video and Audio editor. It provides users with similar abilities that are also used on Adobe Premiere CS5 and Final Cut Pro, but are offered in different and unique ways. It allows users to cut, add filters, distort, and transform most supported video and sound files. It can support video files from AVI, MP4, MPEG, MTS etc and along with many sound/image files. Although it provides users with filters and effects, the main idea of this program is to put together a film or any type video into a nice sequence, although it is quiet popular for colour correction. Mojority of films can run just from using sony vegas pro, but if you were to expand it, to increase your grade, then you would need to use other software's that can offer extremely powerful options. In our case, we did just that.

Adobe After Effects is the future technology for extremely powerful graphical effects. We used this powerful software to develop our music video to another level. We did this by creating some cool effects, such as lighting, concrete crack, fireball, windscreen crack, optical flare lights etc. These effects gave majority of our video eye catching and entertaining to the audience. It is also an advantage as it may surprise the audience that doesn't expect it and it is most likely to become more popular as the future of music videos now use good quality software's to make effects rather then filming them live. So we used after effects to add these new features it provides us and we are taking full advantage of technology, which may eventually increase the chance of getting a better grade by using fancy effects.

Our final software was Adobe Photoshop CS5 which is a professional image editing software that allows users to develop or improve vector and bitmap images, either captured by a camera or copied from a website. When making a music video, we also need to create an album cover, along with all 4 parts that are expected from an album cover. So we used Photoshop make an ancillary based on our music video. We used  our own images, but we used the filter and tools provided in photoshop, such as the text tool, brush tool, blur and burn tool, filters and image adjustments like brightness/contrast.
